In celebration of their 130th Anniversary, the employees of First National Bank & Trust gathered together a collection approximately 150 sought after favorite recipes from past and present employees and created an Anniversary Cookbook which were sold at each of their seven locations (Main office, Kingsford, North, South, Econo Foods, Iron River or Menominee) for $10 each. The employees raised over $4,500 which will be distributed to food pantries within each community their employees support.
One of the benefactors of this fund raising project is the First Lutheran Food Pantry located at 1210 S. Stephenson Avenue in Iron Mountain (behind KFC). For more than 15 years, members of their congregation and other community organizations have been collecting funds and non-perishable food items including personal hygiene products to be distributed to those less fortunate in the greater Iron Mountain area. On average their help more than 120 families a year. Their food pantry is open every Wednesday from 9 am until 1 pm or by appointment.
First Lutheran Food Pantry is always looking for donations and volunteers. Monetary donations are also welcome and will be used to supplement their inventory. For more information, contact First Lutheran Church at 906 774-0133.
