In celebration of their 130th Anniversary, the employees of First National Bank & Trust gathered together a collection approximately 150 sought after favorite recipes from past and present employees and created an Anniversary Cookbook which were sold at each of their seven locations (Main office, Kingsford, North, South, Econo Foods, Iron River or Menominee) for $10 each. The employees raised over $4,500 which will be distributed to food pantries within each community their employees support.

One of the benefactors of this fund raising project is the Salvation Army. The group was able to purchase over 450 pounds of turkey for the Salvation Army’s Thanksgiving Turkey Drive. According to Tara Blagec, Director of the local office, the Salvation Army coordinates with other local non-profit food pantries to feed over 120 “extreme need” families in our area each year. Applications for assistance can be picked up at the Salvation Army office located at 145 Roseland Avenue in Kingsford and are being accepted through December 14th for Christmas. The Salvation Army also has an “Angel Tree.” Donors who want to adopt a person or family for Christmas can contact their office at 906-779-5717.

If you would like to help the Salvation Army, non-perishable food donations can be dropped off at their office. For more information on the Salvation Army or their assistance programs, Tara can be reached at 906-779-5717 Mon-Thurs from 8-12 then 1-4 and Fridays 9-12.
