First National Bank & Trust & Foster Closet of Michigan Team Up For Lemon Aid Fun and Fundraising Event

First National Bank & Trust’s downtown Iron Mountain location held a lemonade social on Tuesday, July 10th, for an afternoon of fun and fundraising. The event featured a lemonade stand set up in the outdoor plaza with cookies, lemonade refreshments, and the First National Bank & Trust prize wheel. The event was titled Lemon Aid and collected donations for the Foster Closet of Michigan- Dickinson County.

“We need a successful Foster Closet here in Dickinson County,” said Beth Linn of First National Bank & Trust and the Foster Closet of Michigan- Dickinson County.
“Often children are put in to foster care with only the clothes on their backs. Foster parents need to very quickly provide them with all the basic essentials: clothing, bedding, shoes, winter gear, toiletries and for babies, diapers, wipes, bottles and formula, which can cost several hundred dollars. Having a well-stocked foster closet helps to ease this initial burden on families and gives the children what they need right away to help ease their transition.”

The Foster Closet’s long-term goal is to provide each child with an emergency kit that contains new pajamas, an outfit, socks, underwear/diapers, a blanket, pillow/pillowcase and age appropriate toiletries, all in a non-disposable bag or tote that the child can keep and use again.
