First National Bank & Trust Partners with Area Businesses for Free Outdoor Community Movie Night

The Calvary Lutheran Church in Quinnesec & Bethany Lutheran Church in Norway are excited to present a Free Outdoor Community Movie Night sponsored by The First National Bank & Trust Co. of Iron Mountain, The Iron Mountain Downtown Development Authority, Thomas Theatre Group and Thunder Island Music.

The event is slated for Monday, August 21st at the Iron Mountain DDA Stage across from the Dickinson County Library.

“It is so exciting that the community is pulling together to host this family friendly event,” said Jean O’Dette of the First National Bank.  “We wanted to host a summer event to celebrate our 130th Anniversary of being Rooted in the Community and what better way than collaborating with other local businesses and organizations to provide a community outdoor family movie.  Pastor Dave Johnson of the Calvary Lutheran Church has been offering outdoor family movie night every Friday evening in Quinnesec.  Teaming up with them was a perfect fit to make this fun event available to larger groups.”

In addition to the Calvary Lutheran Church, the First National Bank also brought in other key partners to make this event possible.

“When we reached out to Paula Craven and Gina Wollner from the DDA, they were pleased to collaborate by promoting the event and offering the DDA stage area.  We want to make downtown Iron Mountain a destination and hosting events like this makes our community stronger,” said O’Dette.

Thomas Theatre Group will be providing the 2015 Disney/Pixar movie Inside Out.  The animated blockbuster movie goes into the mind of a little girl as she explores her emotions about moving.  Not only is it a comedy-drama adventure film— it is also educational and everyone from age 2 to 102 will enjoy it.

“Starting around 7 pm we plan to play fun dance music before the movie starts,” said Tanya DalSanto of the First National Bank & Trust.  “Attendees are encouraged to burn off some energy by dancing to the Chicken Song, Hokey Pokey, Cha Cha Slide and many more fun songs.  Thunder Island Music will be providing the sound system for both the music and the movie.  They do a fantastic job each week at Out to Lunch and we are excited they are joining forces with us for this event.”

In conjunction with this community event, Megan Buck, Director of the Dickinson Co. Library scheduled a Make-N-Take craft session for Tuesday, August 15th from 10 am until noon at the library.  If you have little ones and want to make it a memorable night, the library will provide space and all the materials (crayons, glue, paper plates) so that kids and adults can make a box car for the movie night.  Parents are asked to bring your own box(es) to this crafting event.

Outdoor Movie Night is scheduled for Monday, August 21st with a rain date of Tuesday, August 22ndMusic starts at 7 pm with the movie, Inside Out, starting after dusk (approximately 8:30 pm)  Since there is limited seating, please bring your own chairs or blanket.  The First National Bank will be providing free water and popcorn to those who attend.
