The employees of First National Bank & Trust chose the Salvation Army Coats for Kids program as the recipient of their latest fund raising efforts.  Over 2 dozen winter coats and coat/snow pants sets along with hats, scarves and gloves were donated to help area families.

According to Tara Blagec, Director of the local office, the Salvation Army coordinates with other local non-profit food pantries to cloth and feed over a 120 “extreme need” families in our area each year.

Applications for assistance can be picked up at the Salvation Army office located at 145 Roseland in Kingsford and are being accepted through December 14th for Christmas.  The Salvation Army also has an “Angel Tree,” a personalized holiday assistance program in which an individual sponsor or group sponsor purchases new clothing and toys for a deserving child in need.

Donors who want to adopt a person or family for Christmas can contact the Salvation Army office at 779-5717. If you would like to help the Salvation Army, non-perishable food donations can be dropped off at their office.  For more information on the Salvation Army or their assistance programs, Tara can be reached at 779-5717 Mon-Thurs from 8-12 then 1-4 and Fridays 9-12.
